Many people when thinking about fortune telling, very often they would jump to tarot immediately… or when I first told my friends that I am learning astrology, they would ask if it is the same as tarot? The fact is they are both used for fortune telling, at least in many movies. However, they can be very different.
To me, they are definitely two different tools but not mutually exclusive, as you will see that there are many astrological elements in the tarot cards, such as the High Priestess and 9 of swords (shown on right), and even more so with the Thoth Tarot. So when should one use tarot and when to use astrology?
My opinion is that if you want to know something very exact, such as when will something happen or in what ways certain things would happen, astrology can be of a better use. But if you want to know the current energy that is leading to a certain issue, tarot is the most efficient tool to use!
So that depends how exact you want something to be shown. Tarot is particularly weak in telling time frames or predicting something complicated, such as result of a law suit (because too many people's energies are involved). Also, if you want to know compatibility between you and your spouse, astrology is also better in a way. Because it shows where exactly is the sweet point or dislikes so you know how to handle or manage one's expectation.
I think such difference is due to tarot being very abstract while working with one's intuition. All the information you get is from a series of pictures that are answering your questions. Astrologer can check the position of the planets and how it affects you, in a way that it is more 'logical'.
But please don't get me wrong, I still love using tarot (especially Thoth Tarot) when conducting consultation session, because it is fast and to the point. It always amazes me how synchronicity work! Also, it is suppose to show the current energy around certain situation, so one can still choose to change his course, work something around if the energy is not right. That would definitely save us so much energy and resources if we are being given a heads up at an initial stage, right?
Please choose your tool wisely!
